Subject: Cine film transfers to DVD

Dear Cliff and Emily,

Thank you for taking care of my previous order. It is good to know that my old cine films are now safely copied.

I took most of the cine films in the 1960s - so a lot of memories for me and my family. Sadly my wife passed away in 2010 so didn't get the pleasure of seeing the films on DVDs. I wish I'd got them done before.

I'm 80 now so the memories are far away and it pleased me to see these films again.

Best wishes to you both.

Dear Cliff and Emily,

Thank you for the prompt return of the DVD and the excellent service.

It was very pleasing to look back nearly 40 years and remember the very happy times of my daughter's early years in Hertfordshire, Scotland and Devon.

Out of interest, the films were recorded on an old Bell And Howell wind up cine that I still have today - things have moved on a bit since then. Thanks once again,

Subject: Betamax video tape copied to DVD

Dear Cliff and Emily,

I was thrilled to receive my DVD of the old Betamax video from you.

At first, I thought ‘Oh no, it’s just old rubbish.........’ I saw brief flashes of old 1980s TV (JR in Dallas!!) but within seconds there were the lovely pictures of my son that I hoped would be on there. Absolutely brilliant Cliff! He is 44 now and I can’t wait to show him.

There was a good hour long section of our old home movies on the tape, followed by old 1980s TV programmes, which it was entertaining to see, especially the old ads! (Shake and Vac! etc........and ads for ‘new model Citroen BX..) amazing. We must have recorded over an already recorded TV tape – I bet you get lots like that!

Many thanks for a truly personal and expert service.

Subject: Free trial offer 16mm cine film.

Dear Mr and Mrs Williams,

Firstly, please let me thank you for the free trial offer I recently took up.

It's unfortunate that (as you say in your bench notes) some of my grandfather's films had a black area due to 'foreign body intrusion', but overall I was very impressed by the quality of both his camerawork and your transfer, particularly as the films are over 60 years old.

I am going to send you an order for transferring five spools of 16mm film to DVD (total of 1050 feet...£139 plus £5 p&p = £144) I will enclose credit card details on the order form. I will send this order via ParcelForce 24 on Monday. I look forward to seeing the results.

Yours sincerely, George *****

Subject: Copying to DVD and Blu-ray

Dear Cliff

I just had to report back to you following the ‘exchanges’ we had earlier this year.

You may remember me – we discussed having my camcorder tapes copied on to Blu-ray, as I thought that would have to be better than ordinary DVD. You (very honestly) explained that there is no benefit in using Blu-ray to copy ordinary camcorder tapes as the tapes themselves are not recorded in HD. You then copied 6 hi8 tapes on to DVD disks (£10 each)and I was pleased with them.

However, I could not resist talking to a guy at ‘****** Media’ who told me that you were wrong and that obviously blu-ray is always better than DVD. As a test, I sent one Hi8 tape to him and paid him £35 for the privilege of having him copy it on to blu-ray. He did promise a refund if I was not delighted. Well, Cliff, he had to give me the refund as I had to tell him that rather than the result being better, it was far WORSE! Than yours – yes really! The quality which you achieved is far superior both in brightness and crispness of picture.

Just goes to show! Sorry I doubted you, you say it exactly as it is, on your video copying page at your website. I will be sending the rest of my collection of hi8s in the near future.

Best wishes, Sol ******* (Station Road, London. NW4 ***) Tel. 07973 *** ***

Good Morning Opened the front door to discover large parcel – I haven’t had time to watch all the films but am certainly looking forward to it. The most extraordinary experience is hearing my father’s voice from 1959. He had been dead nearly 40 years so quite weird to hear him again. Will listen to the whole tape at my leisure. Thanks for doing everything so quickly. Best wishes, Julia

Best regards, Cliff ----- Original Message ----- From: Julia ******* To: cliff Sent: Wednesday, June 07, 2017 2:16 PM Subject: RE: Transfer to DVD Dear Cliff and Emily Thanks for the demo DVD. I want to send off the spools to you as soon as possible but can’t work out the price. Originally you quoted £301 for 6 rolls onto one DVD + postage + £10 per copy. Is that correct YES because the prices quoted on the return slip with the Demo DVD is slightly different.-Only because I quoted for the single 400 ft spool on its own-please disregard that Once I know I can send everything off with a cheque.-OK... Or send NO money, Emily will phone you with accurate quantification, you could then pay over the phone with credit card to ensure immediate attention to your order (cheques have to clear the bank) Size of picture - When I played the DVD on the TV the screen size was not the original, i.e. 16x9 rather than 4:3. Is that the fault of the TV or do you re-format the picture when you transfer it? We transfer at 4:3 which is the original spec' (as you say) Modern TVs are set to play at 16:9 - so the cine picture is (of course) marginally distorted - but most people don't notice - you're the first for years!. If you want to view in 4:3 take your remote and alter the 'TV aspect ratio' from the on screen menu ....not as good though, because this gives wide gaps either side of picture. Will put a reel in the post asap. I have already read your website carefully and spot-checked through the reviews so feel confident you can do the job. Once I have received your sample I will send the rest. As with many of your customers, I have been prompted into this request by a forthcoming family re-union where all the cousins are pooling their resources. That happens first weekend in July so am hoping that if all goes to plan I will have a DVD to show them. However, as they will not want all the films is it possible to isolate some reels for duplication at another time?..You can download the whole programme and very simply copy selected sections at will- it's very easy with modern software- which you may have already on your devices. Best wishes, Julia *********

Suggest that you send ONE of them for the free demo' of part of it (enough to show you the quality which we achieve)- send no money at all, will do it by return of post, you can then order with total confidence. I am not sure if they are Standard 8 or Hi-8 Doesn't matter - either/both no problem but they were all shot between 1959 and the early 60’s....as were nearly all of the films we do here I have also got a small roll of ¼” tape which would be lovely to have on CD. Reel to reel tape for £20 (to ordinary CD) Could you please give me some idea of the cost of this please (without music) 6 x 400ft = ",400 feet which runs for 3 hours (nominally) all on one x DVD for £301 with additional copies @ £10 if required. and if price is right when you might be able to do the transfers. ??? - ANY time - we do these every day (except when we are away, of course) - job will be done within a week of it's arrival

Dear Cliff and Emily

I have used your services before and was very pleased with the outcome.

I now have a problem which I hope you can sort out for me.

I have quite a few camcorder tapes (8mm video) from the 1990s and one is still in the camcorder and I have lost the battery and can’t get the tape out. If I send the camcorder with the other tapes, can you get the tape out of it then copy to DVD with the others? I don’t mind if you have to break the camcorder, I won’t be using it again anyway. Please let me know by return e.mail -thank you.

Many thanks,

Dear Cliff and Emily,

Following on from the excellent trial DVD you made from my cine film, I am sending today my whole collection of cine film to be put onto DVD.

I have calculated that there is a total of 4950 feet which should be £580 according to my sums! Perhaps you could let me know when you receive them.

I’ve no idea how many DVDs this will need, I’ll leave everything up to you two. Can’t wait to see these on TV.

Best wishes, Teresa ******, (Ilfracombe, EX34 *** tel. 01271 ******)
